Earlier today, I was texting with a girlfriend I have known since elementary school. We talked about the difficulty in keeping our own mothers happy. Although all the children were grown, our mothers became widows at a fairly early age. My mother has since remarried twice. Yet each of us still can’t quite seem to please our mothers no matter how we try. Are all mothers like this we both wondered?
Later in the afternoon my oldest son came home to give me a lovely peace lily plant. I still have the peace lily plant from my father’s funeral in 1990. I replanted it and now I can’t seem to get it to grow back to its former glory. Perhaps both peace lilies are trying to tell me something about relationships.
May all mothers find peace this Mother’s Day.
